iOS 12.1.4

iPhone and iPad upgrades to fix some security flaws and it sounds like a few more to come. 12.1.4 is out and it has some issues but I would keep upgraded for the next month as there are some big security issues. There have been reports of issues but the security risks are too great to ignore.

Solar in Puerto Rico

I saw a report that Puerto Rico is investing big in solar. Even before the hurricane there was some solar in action. This is a perfect time for Puerto Rico to make the next generation in power generation. Down with the grid. We no longer need a grid. Take a group of houses. Five to twelve houses wired together would be best. Setup each house so that three houses can supply enough energy for the whole set of houses using a minimum of power. A combination of solar and wind power. Using 100 watt solar panels and 500 watt smaller wind turbines. Using standard lithium batteries that look like car batteries instead of expensive house batteries. Using the least expensive, most available types of gear. This way people can build out as they have money. Each group of houses could have a backup diesel generator to handle any other major failures. Good luck to our island Americans.

The Psychosis of Silicon Valley

I lived most of my life in the midwest. I always knew computer guys were weird but I had no idea until I moved to Silicon Valley. People talk about Steve Job's bubble called a reality distortion field. After reading many books on him he comes across as very bi-polar. He is not alone. Silicon Valley draws the crazy people. I have never met so many people on medication or needing medication. Why is this? One reason is all computer fields draw people that are odd. You don't have to deal as much with people as you do in other fields. Machines are easier than people. I did say computer guys on purpose because most of the few women that are in the field are for the most part sane. Maybe they are crazy for putting up with us men but that's another issue. This is why Google, Facebook and others in Silicon Valley have problems hiring enough women. Women are as qualified in some cases more qualified. Not that this is an excuse of why but a reason and something they should work on. If people in Silicon Valley would seek therapy and medication the world would be a better place.
